Front National councillor urges French far-Right party to convert to Islam

Front National councillor urges French far-Right party to convert to Islam

A far-right local councillor shocks Marine Le Pen's party by becoming a Muslim and sending Front National officials a video in which he urges them to embrace Islam

A Front National local councillor has embarrassed France's far-Right party by announcing his recent conversion to Islam – and urging fellow members to join him.

Maxence Buttey, 22, offended officials of the anti-immigration party by sending them a video in which he praised the "visionary" virtues of the Koran and urged them to become Muslims.

Mr Buttey, a councillor in the eastern Paris suburb of Noisy-le-Grand, said the Front National and Islam had much in common.

"Both are demonised and very far from the image portrayed in the media," he told Le Parisien newspaper. "Like Islam, the FN defends the weakest. The party denounces exorbitant interest rates charged on the debt of our country, and Islam is against the practice of usury."

Jordan Bardella, a local party secretary, said Mr Buttey had been suspended from a regional FN committee.

"Religion is a private choice which I respect but it must not enter into the sphere of our political activities. The proselytising video which Maxence sent out is unacceptable," Mr Bardella said.

However, Mr Buttey remains a party member and a councillor. The party has no power to sack him from the post.

"Some of my voters will be disappointed by my choice," Mr Buttey admitted. "But I'm ready to explain to them that Islam has a mission to unite all men and women."

He said he found it difficult to believe the "official" version of the September 11 attacks, adding that there was doubt about the "Merah affair" -- referring to the al-Qaeda inspired French gunman, Mohammed Merah, who killed seven people in the south of France in 2012.

"I am against the niqab [full-face veil]," he said, adding that Islam did not call for believers "to cut off heads as the Islamic State group does."

Mr Buttey said he had decided to convert after lengthy discussions with the local imam, whom he met while campaigning for election earlier this year.

"I was Catholic but when I reread the Bible I noticed all its inconsistencies," he said. "When I read the Koran thoroughly, I understood that this religion is more open."

The leader of the Front National, Marine Le Pen, has objected to schools serving Halal meat for Muslim pupils, a controversial issue in France, which has banned the wearing of the full-face veil in public and headscarves in state schools. It has Europe's largest Muslim population, estimated at six million.

Repentance (tawbah) - and it's conditions

Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan -حفظه الله تعالى- on the conditions of sincere Tawbah

Question:
"Tell us about Tawbah and what are it's conditions and what is the meaning of At-Tawbatun-Nasooh (the sincere repentance)?"

Answer;
"At-Tawbah is to return from the sin to the obedience, and it is compulsory. (وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعاً أَيُّهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ)

This it is compulsory upon the Muslim, if he commits a sin that he rush with repent repentance to Allaah -عز وجل- and Allaah accepts the repentance of the one who repents.
(وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَىٰ)
And this is from the virtue if Allaah -عز و جل- He commanded with At-Tawbah and promised to accept the repentance of the one who repents and forgive him for his sin. But At-Tawbah is not merely with the tongue alone. At-Tawbah has condition that must be fulfilled, and these conditions are:

First Condition:
Abandoning the sin and distancing oneself from it and he doesn't say I have repented to Allaah but he doesn't move away from the sin nor does he abandon it.

Second Condition:
That he is determined not to return to the sin a second time. For if he repented to Allaah and in his intention he intends to return to the sin at another time then this repentance is merely temporary and it is not accepted by Allaah -سبحانه وتعالى-.

Third Condition:
He regrets what took place and to imagine this sin and to fear (it's recompense) and he doesn't say I've repented and that it. Thus he should be fearful of the (recompense) of that sin thus he has regret over what he did.

These are the condition of At-Tawbah and if they are meet Allaah will accept the repentance -سبحانه وتعالى- as He has promised."

Explanation of the Hadiith "Fasting is for me…" by ash-Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan

Explanation of the Hadiith "Fasting is for me…" by ash-Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan

Question:

In the Hadiith qudsi "every action of the children of Aadam is for him apart from fasting, it is indeed for me and I will reward for it," I would like an explanation for this Hadiith and to know why fasting was specified with this distinction.

Answer:

All praise belongs to Allaah. This is a great, confirmed Hadiith on the authority of the Messenger—SallallAalhu ‘alayhi wa Sallam—who narrates from his lord—‘azza wa Jall—who said, “All of the deeds of Bany Aadam are for him except fasting, indeed it is for me and I will reward for it...” (Reported by al-Bukhaari 2/226 from the hadiith of Abu Hurairah)

In this Hadiith is the virtue of fasting and its merit over the rest of the actions and that indeed Allaah specified it for Himself above the other actions of the servant. Some of the people of knowledge responded (regarding why Allaah specified fasting for Himself) in his statement “fasting is for me and I will reward for it...” with several answers.

From them were those who said that the meaning of his statement –Ta’aalaa–“fasting is for me and I will reward for it...” is that the actions of the son (man or woman) of Aadam serves as retribution for what takes place between him and the oppressed. Those oppressed by him will seek retribution on Yawm al-Qiyaamah (Day of Standing/Judgement) by taking from his actions and good deeds as appears in the Hadiith, "A man will come on the day of judgment with good deeds the likes of mountains and he comes whilst having debased this one and struck that one and consumed the wealth of this one. Therefore, his good deeds will be taken from him for this one and for that one until all of his good deeds have vanished and there remains nothing, then the sins of the oppressed ones will be taken and casted upon him and [as a result] he is thrown into the fire (Sahiih Muslim 4/100, pg. 1997, from the Hadiith of Abu Hurairah). Except for fasting, for indeed, it (the reward of fasting) is not taken from him to be given to his rivals (those he oppressed) on Yawm al-Qiyaamah, rather Allaah–‘azza wa jall–stores it for the doer and rewards him for it.
And what indicates this is his statement, “all the actions of the son of Aadam are an expiation for him apart from fasting, for indeed it is for me and I will reward for it,” meaning the actions of the son of Aadam serve us retribution and are taken by his rivals whom he has oppressed on Yawm al- Qiyaamah, apart from fasting, for indeed Allaah preserves it and it will not be overtaken by those he oppressed, [but will} remain with Allaah–‘azza wa jall—for its doer.

And it was said that the meaning of His statement, “fasting is for me and I will reward for it, “ is that fasting is a hidden action nobody can know about except Allaah–Subhaanahu wa Ta’aalaa–for it is an intention of the heart in opposition to the rest of the actions which are apparent and seen by the people. As for fasting, it is a concealed action which is between the servant and his lord–‘azza wa Jall–and for this reason he said, “fasting is for me and I will reward for it. He indeed abandoned his desires, food and drink for my sake.” And his abandonment of his desires and food for the sake of Allaah, this is a hidden action and a concealed intention that nobody knows about apart from Allaah –Ta’aalaa–in opposition to charity for example and prayer and hajj and [other] apparent actions; these are seen by the people. As for fasting, nobody sees it, because the meaning of fasting is not merely abandoning food, drink and those things which break the fast, rather along with this, it must be done sincerely for Allaah–‘azza wa jall. And nobody knows this (sincerity of his fasting) except Allaah–Subhaanahu wa Ta’aalaa. Thus, His statement, “he abandoned his desire, food and drink…etc.” is an explanation for His statement, “fasting is for me and I will reward for it.”

From the scholars are those who said that the meaning of His Statement, “fasting is for me and I will reward for it” is that Shirk (Polytheism) does not enter into fasting, contrary to the rest of the deeds which the Mushrikuun (polytheists) present to their objects of worship like: slaughtering, oaths and other than that from the different types of worship. Also Du’aa (supplication), fear and hope, for verily many of the Mushrikuun sought nearness to their idols and that which they worshipped with these things in opposition to fasting; it has not been mentioned that the Mushrikuun would fast for their idols and gods. Fasting is rather specific for Allaah–‘azza wa Jall—and it is upon this that the meaning of His statement, “Fasting is for me and I will reward for it,” is that shirk does not penetrate it, because the Mushrikuun did not seek nearness with it to their idols but rather fasting is used to seek nearness only to Allaah–‘azza wa Jall.

Peter Chatfield - A message to the world

Hundreds of Muslims visit convert after message goes viral

Peter Chatfield, who is dying of cancer, received over 400 visitors after appealing to the Muslim world via social media.

World Bulletin / News Desk

British Muslim convert Peter Chatfield, is being held in Queens Hospital, Sahara Ward B5, due to spine cancer that has left him paralysed from the chest down. Doctors have given him an estimate of six months left to live.

Chatfield called upon Muslim brothers to surround him through his rough period of time, as he doesnt have many Muslim friends.

The response he received was amazing. Not long after the message spread via social media, hundreds of Muslims from all backgrounds went to visit Peter in the hospital.

“I am truly blessed,” Peter was quoted saying by Ilmfeed. “I don’t turn anyone away. In the last few days I have had over 400 visitors. It’s madness, and I’m so thrilled and feel so blessed to be so loved. That is the most important thing here – love.”

Peter has recieved an astonishing response to his cry out to the Muslim community. A visitor flew in from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, just to see him and fly back. The day before a family from Penaylvania, USA came to spend some time with him.

Peter said “I know I haven’t long left, I’m ready to go and I hope anyone I have hurt or upset can forgive me before I leave you all.”

“Am I scared about leaving life? No, I’m at peace and surrounded by so much love. In fact I had to temporarily block my phone as I couldn’t handle the calls and messages I have received. I have not had one moment of doubt of where I’m going. Blessed be those who visit me.”

He added, “I wish everyone here a speedy recovery. There’s so much you learn about human nature and life. Some people don’t receive a single visit and I have hundreds.”

“It’s so sad but that is the reality of life. People need to take a minute and spend some time with their loved ones – doing the important things in life – it’s a lot more than just a working, eating, sleeping routine for 60 or 70 years.”

Here are the details to his hospital, please call the ward before visiting him:

Britain's first Masjid

'The birthplace of Islam in Britain': Toxteth's Victorian mosque reopens

The mosque at 8 Brougham Terrace opened in 1889, two years after Abdullah Quilliam converted to Islam

The first mosque founded in England, which has stood as a derelict shell for many years, has been refurbished and reopened to Merseyside's 20,000 Muslims. But how did it come to be there in the first place?

The mid-terrace house in Liverpool, with its broken windows and peeling paint, had given no clue it was, as one of the men behind its renovation put it, the "birthplace of Islam in Britain".

The building, in Brougham Terrace in Toxteth, was once owned by Abdullah Quilliam, who opened it as Liverpool Muslim Institute in 1889.

A prominent English solicitor who had been educated on the Isle of Man and the son of a Methodist preacher, William Henry Quilliam converted to Islam two years earlier, taking the name Abdullah and claiming to be the first native Englishman to embrace the religion.

Jahangir Mohammed says Quilliam was "the first media Muslim", using newspapers to fight prejudice

The Abdullah Quilliam Society's Jahangir Mohammed says it is difficult to underestimate the importance of the man or the courage he showed in becoming a Muslim, a step he took while on a trip to Morocco.

"On his way, he saw some Hajjis, who had been on pilgrimage, and was intrigued at how peaceful they were when he saw them praying," he said.

"A Muslim colleague explained that Islam was simply a continuation of previous faiths, Judaism and Christianity. It all seemed logical to him so he became a Muslim at that point.

"When he came back, he decided that he wanted to promote Islam. At the time, it was seen as the religion of the Devil here, so it was a very brave step to take."

'Very unusual'

The Royal Holloway University of London's Professor of the History of Islam, Humayun Ansari, says the life Quilliam saw in Morocco appealed to him.

"He felt that people lived simple lives - they lived, in his view, quite moral lives and there was an environment of solidarity, depending very little on whether they were wealthy or poor.

"That was something that was of immense significance for him."

The institute incorporated an orphanage, college, madrasa, hotel, museum and library

However, Prof Ansari says that deciding to convert to Islam was not a simple choice for Quilliam.

"Islam in the 19th Century was seen as a Christian heresy and there were these ideas about Islam being a violent faith.

"So it would have been very unusual for a person from his class background to convert at that time."

'First media Muslim'

Quilliam's work was met in some quarters by anger and hatred, which Mr Mohammed says intensified after the founding of the mosque and his conversion successes.

"He converted 200 locals and 600 people in the whole of the UK and spent a lot of his time persuading people about the merits of Islam and how it wasn't the evil religion it was presented to be," he said.

Quilliam converted 200 locals and 600 people across the UK

"Because he was successful and Christians were converting to Islam, that produced a lot of hostility.

"People would come in here and attack him. They would throw pigs' heads, razor wire, stones. Some were incited by priests, some were incited by the media, but he stood up to that."

More than simply facing down his detractors, Mr Mohammed says Quilliam turned to the instruments being used to denigrate him and became "the first media Muslim".

"He would respond to attacks in the media and he produced the first Muslim attempts at journalism.

A plaque celebrating Quilliam's life and the mosque is attached to the building

"He encouraged Muslims to write and speak. He would petition Queen Victoria and make his views known, expressing opposition to what was going on around the world.

"He was an articulate, responsible citizen, but he never hid his views and would write about them in his monthly journal and weekly newspaper."

Scientific lectures

His writings became essential reading, so much so that one book, the Faith of Islam, had three editions translated into 13 different languages and was so popular that Queen Victoria ordered the book and then ordered copies for her grandchildren.

Liverpool Hope University's Professor of Religion Ron Geaves says it was not just his writings that helped change the public's view of Islam.

He says Quilliam looked at why the religion was unpopular with the British public and tailored lectures at the mosque to combat the problem.

"It is interesting to look at the topics of the lectures. You might expect them to be religious and promoting Islam but what we find are lectures with experiments, science lectures.

"So he's presenting Islam in a very rational way that's going to appeal to the new scientific consciousness of Victorian Britain."

Quilliam's work and reputation led him to be appointed Sheikh-ul-Islam of the British Isles by the last Ottoman ruler Sultan Abdul Hamid ll in 1894 and recognised by the Shah of Persia and the Emir of Afghanistan as the leader of British Muslims.

Building in disrepair

In Liverpool, the institute grew to incorporate an orphanage, college, madrasa, hotel, museum and library.

But the religious intolerance which Quilliam and his converts faced proved too much for him and in 1908, he left England for Istanbul, returning much later under the name Haroun Mustapha Leon and settling in Woking, where he died in 1932.

There was extensive dry rot in the building when the Abdullah Quilliam Society took it over

Quilliam's departure saw 8 Brougham Terrace change and from 1908, the buildings were used as council registry for births, deaths and marriages, including records of the marriage of John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia.

Later the building fell into disrepair.

In 1999, a group of Muslims from Merseyside set up the Abdullah Quilliam Society in order to preserve his legacy and a year later, they took over responsibility for the building, which was in a poor state and had been broken in by thieves stealing lead and other metals.

The restoration project has seen the society raise more than £400,000 from donations and it plans to eventually spend £3.8m restoring the buildings and setting up a museum and heritage centre.

Mr Mohammed says Quilliam's vision deserves nothing less.

"It's very important because this is the first mosque in Britain. It was the centre of Islamic activity in Victorian times and the birthplace of Islam in Britain.

"[Quilliam] showed how it was possible to be a Muslim in this country. He's a role model."

The way of the Salaf in welcoming Ramadan - Al-Alaamah Fawzaan

The way of the Salaf in welcoming Ramadan - Al-Alaamah Fawzaan

In the Name of Allaah, Ar-Rahmaan, Ar-Raheem

This is the reply of Shaikh Fawzaan to some questions regarding the way of the Salaf in welcoming Ramadan and how to prepare for it.

Shaikh Fawzaan said,
"In the name of Allaah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem and Assalaam alaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakaatuhu and may Allaah bless you and what you have pointed to from these two great questions. The first question is the state of the Salaf in the month of Ramadan. The state of the Salaf, as it is recorded in the books narrated with authentic chains from them, that verily they would ask Allaah, azaa wa jalla, to allow them to reach Ramadan before it would come in. They would ask Allaah to allow them to reach Ramadan, due to what they know from the great good and many benefits in it. Then if Ramadan entered, they would ask Allaah to aid them in doing righteous actions in it. Then if Ramadan finished, they would ask Allaah to accept it from them, as Allaah said (translation of meaning), " 60. And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning).61. It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. (Surah Al-Mu'minun: 60-61) And they exerted much effort in actions and then a concern would hit them after the action, will it be accepted or will it not be accepted. And that is because of their knowledge of the greatness of Allaah, azza wa jalla, and their knowledge that verily Allaah does not accept (worship) except that which is sincerely for His Face and from actions that are correctly upon the Sunna of His Messenger. So they would not ascribe purity to themselves and feared their actions would be void. They were more severe in tiredness (in hoping) for their actions to be accepted then they were (in tiredness) for performing them because Allaah, jalla wa alaa, says (translation of meaning),"Verily, Allah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious)" (Surah-Al-Ma'idah: 27And they would free themselves up for worship in this month as mentioned previously, and they would reduce themselves from the worldly actions, and they used to set aside time for sitting in the Houses of Allaah, azza wa jalla, and say, "We are going to protect our fast and not backbite anyone." They would bring the mushaafs and study the Book of Allaah ,azza wa jalla, with each other. They used to protect their time from wastefulness and would not be neglectful and heedless as is the state of many today; rather they used to preserve its (Ramadan) time, at night in standing (prayer) and the day fasting and reading the Quran and remembering Allaah and doing good actions. They would not be heedless of a minute from it (Ramadan) or a quick moment from it. And they used to put forth righteous actions in it."

Allaahu akbar

Allah is the greatest!

Subhaana Kal-lah hum-ma wabi hamdika watha-baara kasmuka watha'aala jad-duka walaa ilaaha ghayruk.

Glory be to you, O Allah, and all praises are due unto you, and blessed is your name and high is your majesty and none is worthy of worship but you.

A'udhu bil-laahi minash Shaythaa-nir-rajeem

I seek Allah's protection from Satan who is accursed.

Praise is only for Allah, Lord of the Universe.
The most Kind, the most Merciful.
The master of the Day of Judgement.
You alone we worship and to you alone we pray for help.
Show us the straight way,
The way of those whom you have blessed.
Who have not deserved your anger,
Nor gone astray.

We can pray any Surah after reciting Surah Faatiha above, as long as it is a minimum of 3 verses or one long verse. The following is a short and popular Surah situated towards the end of the Qur'an called Surah Al Ikhlas:

Qul huwal laahu ahad.
Allaah hus-Samad.
Lam yalid walam yoolad.
Walam yakul-lahu Kufuwan ahad.

Say: He is Allah, the only one.
Allah helps and does not need help.
He does not produce a child, and He was not born of anyone.
There is no one equal to Him.

Subhaana Rabbi'al Azeem

"Glory to my Lord the Exalted".

Sami Allaahu Liman Hamidah

“Allah listens to him who praises Him"

Rabbanaa lakal Hamd

"Oh our Lord, all praise is to you".

Subhaana Rabbi yal A'alaa

All compliments, all physical prayer and all monetary worship are for Allah.
Peace be upon you, Oh Prophet, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
Peace be on us and on all righteous slaves of Allah.
I bear witness that no one is worthy of worship except Allah
And I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger

Allaahumma Salleh Alaa Muhammadin Wa'alaa' Aale Muhammadin Kama Sallaiyta Alaa Ibraheema Wa' Alaa Aale Ibraheema InnakaHameedum Majeed

Allaahumma Baarak Alaa Muhammadin Wa' Alaa Aale Muhammadin Kama Baarakta Alaa Ibraheem Wa' Alaa Aale Ibraheema Innaka Hameedum Majeed

Oh Allah, send grace and honour on Muhammad and
On the family and true followers of Muhammad
just as you sent Grace and Honour on Ibrahim
and on the family and true followers of Ibrahim
Surely, you are praiseworthy, the Great.

Oh Allah, send your blessing on Muhammad and
the true followers of Muhammad, just
as you sent blessings on Ibrahim
and his true followers
Surely, you are praiseworthy, the Great.

Dua after durood

Oh Lord, make me and my children keep up prayers,
Our Lord, accept our prayer,

1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays.

2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.

3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous.

4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."

Sahih Al-Bukhari

Narrated by Abu Musa

It was narrated by Abu Musa that the Prophet
صلى الله عليه وسلم  said;
The example of guidance and knowledge with which, Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil, absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rainwater and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which, could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah’s religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge), which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophet) and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah’s guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)”

[Sahih Al-Bukhari v.1 no.79.]
